From Saturday, 29 March, ALDI shoppers will be able to eat their buns and wear them too! That’s right, because ALDI Australia is launching its NEW GIANT hot cross bun and is celebrating this MEGA milestone with an exclusive collaboration with iconic brand Budgy Smuggler Australia.
Pre-heat your grill, this isn’t a drill because ALDI is bringing GIANT hot cross buns to a store near you – and they are b-utterly irresistible!
This year will see the largest ever line-up of Hot Cross Buns at ALDI, including the introduction of the first GIANT brioche hot cross bun, with 11 servings of genuine French brioche with fruit and spices. This soft and fruity behemoth is a whopping 633% bigger than our classic fruit hot cross bun.
Luke Iemma, ALDI Australia’s Buying Director for Bread and Bakery, says: “We’re always excited to introduce our customers to new additions to our Easter bakery range each year, and we’re sure hot cross bun aficionados will love ALDI’s Giant Brioche Hot Cross Bun this season. The oversized Easter speciality weighs 550g and at close to 20cm in diameter, it’s almost the same size as a soccer ball! Now the only decision left to make is if you plan to share it with your loved ones or eat it all to yourself. No judgement here!”

To celebrate the Giant Hot Cross Bun, ALDI Australia has teamed up with Aussie icons Budgy Smuggler to release limited-edition Bun-gy Smugglers: too hot to handle bun-forgettable swimmers.
Designed in a signature ALDI print shoppers will be able to show off their buns of steel loud and proud in the Good Different design.
Jimmy Exelby, Head of Partnerships at Budgy Smuggler, said: “ALDI does Good Different, we do Good Smuggling, so it’s a no brainer to combine forces and deliver the hottest buns this Easter. These tasty treats aren’t just good different, they’re perfect for anyone that wants to look (and feel) like a snack.

The ALDI Bun-gy Smugglers – an ALDI x Budgy Smuggler Limited Edition collection – will include the iconic Budgy bottoms and one-piece swimmers at Budgy Smuggler stores and in typical ALDI fashion, at great low prices. The men’s ALDI Bun-gy Smuggler bottoms will be available for $58.50, and the bun-derful women’s one-piece will be available for $90 – that’s 10% off the standard price.
And if that doesn’t have you raisin’ a toast, all profits from the sale of these bun-believable creations will go to ALDI’s national charity partner Camp Quality, who help to bring positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids facing cancer.

To celebrate the arrival of the ALDI Bun-gy Smuggler collection and Giant Hot Cross Buns, ALDI Australia will be giving away 100 pairs to its #ALDIcore shoppers before they go on sale in Budgy Smuggler stores. The competition opens on March 19 via ALDI Australia Facebook Group and Instagram and closes on March 23.
